That’s why we’ve developed this School Safety Plan for Parents, a practical, community-based roadmap designed to raise awareness, drive prevention, and honor the victims and their families.

This comprehensive and interactive plan can be used in public, charter, or private schools, and is adaptable for any K–12 setting. It provides actionable steps, logging tools, and communication strategies designed to help families identify security vulnerabilities, improve emergency preparedness, and build a shared responsibility for school safety.

Please Note: In-person presentations are currently only available for schools located within San Diego County, California.

Our presentations are designed specifically for parents and families, providing actionable, community-focused steps to protect our children. To help us coordinate with your school’s calendar and prepare materials, please review our guidelines below before submitting your request:

  • Advance Notice: All presentation requests should be submitted at least 2 to 3 weeks in advance of your preferred date to allow for proper scheduling.

  • Language Options: Presentations can be delivered entirely in English or Español based on your community's preference.

  • 100% Free of Charge: There is absolutely no cost to the school or attending families. We provide our presentation and our School Safety Plan for Parents Booklet entirely as a free community service.

  • Principal Approval Required: To bring this presentation to your campus, there must be a mutual agreement between the school parents (or PTO/PTA) and the school administration. All presentation requests must be officially approved by the school Principal before the date can be finalized.

  • Host Facility Requirements: The school must provide a projector or a large TV screen with working audio/speakers connected to display our slideshow presentation. A working microphone (lapel or handheld) is also required for the presenter.

  • Duration: 30–35 minutes total (a concise 20–25 minute presentation followed by 10 minutes for Questions & Answers).

Scheduling Notice: While we make every effort to honor scheduled dates, presentations are subject to change or cancellation in the event of an emergency or unforeseen circumstances. If an issue arises, we will contact you immediately to reschedule.

What to Expect During the Presentation

Our presentations offer an actionable, visual roadmap to help parents and schools collaborate effectively on campus security.

Format: 20 to 25 minutes of presentation, followed by a 10-to-15-minute open Q&A.

  • Data & Reality: Features a brief 1-minute video titled "The Reality We Face," tracing the history of U.S. school shootings from 1969 to 2025 to establish a factual, baseline understanding.

  • Core Action Steps: A breakdown of five vital parent strategies from our plan—covering safety conversations (Step 1), campus "Red Flags" (Step 2), safety sweeps (Step 4), safe home firearm storage (Step 6), and bullying prevention (Step 8).

  • Real-World Success: Photos and the story of a local campus where parent-led fencing and security door upgrades successfully stopped a rooftop trespasser years later.

  • Next Steps: Practical recommendations on how to build a strong parent network and stay constructively involved with your school.
